Songea

Our colleague visiting from the UK departed today, which gave the opportunity for some desk time in Songea and a slightly more relaxed pace.

Songea is a decent place in which to hang and catch up on work alongside a jar of passionfruit juice. It’s growing at a rapid pace thanks to the Mtwara Development Corridor, which stretches across southern Tanzania from Mtwara on the Indian Ocean, connecting the major towns and reaching the shore of Lake Nyasa (Lake Malawi). As a result I have read that Songea is predicted to be the sixth fastest growing city on the African continent for the five years to 2025.

Despite its astronomical growth, it remains pleasant for a stroll.
