Manneken Pis by Patrick Gerola

Feeling better, the headache and neck pains are not totally gone, but I was well enough to drive son no 1, who had come to keep an eye on me while my husband was away, back to the train station at Zaventem International Airport. There's a lot of art in the airport terminal of Zaventem, and one of the pieces is this huge statue of Manneken Pis by Patrick Gerola, fitting in with his Creation painting which is also shown behind the statue. I have always found the Manneken Pis a rather curious kind of statue to represent a country, the original is very small, only about 61 cm and it is indeed a naked boy urinating. Apparently the original statue gets dressed up in different clothes for all kinds of occasions :-) If you want to know the origins Wikipedia gives a lot of explanations here
