Lush

D had to set off even earlier than usual (something about the boat having to take the bird people to Inchkeith before going to Hawes Pier), so I made an early visit to the allotment. It was very quiet, except for the usual tweetings and scurryings. I watered everything (much needed), fed everyone (are they grateful?) and transplanted some dwarf green beans and purple sprouting to join the cavalo nero and Shetland cabbage that D transplanted on Tuesday. Picked strawberries, broad beans and various salad leaves and herbs.

The pics are, clockwise from top left: the lettuce bed before I picked a few, a nice looking yellow vetch-type thing with bonus bee, a white iris, and a butterfly that may be a ringlet. Someone will set me right if not!

Back home to marking (assignments now, much less stressful than exams). Excited message from D on the island - the works unit are out moving the Heras fencing, so the abbey will be open tomorrow at last!!
