The "Oily Clock"

A trip to Upton today to visit to the Horology Museum which was more interesting than I thought it would be and in Upton Hall a very attractive building so we spent more time there.

There has been a building on the site since 956 but the building as seen today dates from 1828.

It has housed many families and a religious order and then from 1972 the British Horological Institute to present time.

It is said to be haunted by a "White Lady" and a "Dark Figure" but in these times no body can confirm it.

One of the main features is the "Oily Clock" build out of wood and built in the UK for a Horological display in Dallas Texas, it was sent  back dismantled in crates where it laid for 30 years. The BBC's "Repair Shop" program took on the restoration and have done a magnificent job.
