The Strid

This notorious stretch of the River Wharfe above Bolton Abbey has claimed numerous lives. The river, which is mostly about 30 feet wide and a few feet deep at most, suddenly narrows and effectively flips on its side. After some rain this morning the rock was very slippery, so we certainly weren’t getting any closer!
