Romantic Notions

Hollyhocks originally came to Europe from south-west China. They epitomise to me the idea of a traditional English garden. I imagine them growing in front of stone cottages with thatched roofs, in the warm, summer sunshine. This image was taken today between the showers in the gardens of Buckland Abbey in West Devon.
