What An Unexpected Pleasure
Our day turned out completely different than I expected. But doesn’t it always? Trek heard noises during the night and alerted me which meant I got little sleep. Once up, pets fed, we went outside to search for a blip. You’ll have to wait another day to see the beautiful hydrangeas I found. Jamie called a little later and invited us on his boat for a trip across the Chesapeake Bay. He had found a quaint seafood restaurant and he wanted to take us to lunch. The ride was about an hour each way. Jamie wanted to be home before the wind picked up around 4:00 pm and that is when Trek gets fed so we had a plan. We live on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Our lunch was on Hooper’s Island on the Eastern shore. Both rides were interesting (as in hold on tightly) between waves other boaters made and the whitecaps albeit small, on the Bay. Sitting during that ride earned me over 6,000 “steps” to give you an idea. The weather was gorgeous and our meal was equally wonderful. We almost lost our appetite though. Finding a place to dock in the narrow creek was dicey so we ended up by a huge stack of crab pots with decaying bait and seaweed. Luckily we had to walk to the restaurant so our tummies had time to settle down. Our meal was considerably delayed. Our waitress had a blood pressure episode (requiring EMS attention) so the staff had to pick up her customers. The wind had shifted and Jamie was able to move the boat so getting back on was much better. We sure had a special unplanned family day. Hubby made me a carafe of fresh coffee when we got home. I pulled in to Kim’s garage at 4:07. Trek got dinner and I was probably asleep by 4:15. Sure hope your weekend is starting off just as nice. Thanks for the visit. Our great niece received all the “thinking of you” treats the family sent. Our niece said it helped a great deal; that was our goal. “It's our connection to the Chesapeake Bay that makes us special.
