Aerial refuelling
Rubbish photos [must replace my good camera] but I was pleased to have at least captured the fleeting moment.
Top: three juvenile swallows await meal delivery on the beam below their nursery nest. (They are now out of it most of the time practising their aeronautics.)
Middle: left hand swallow chick perks up ?having heard approach of parent.
Bottom: parent zooms in, deposits snack in nearest/largest gape, zooms out again without missing a wingbeat.*
This goes on all day apart from the practice efforts of the young ones who are learning to feed themselves in flight.
When they succeed, next stop Africa!
*Wings fluttering so fast they are no more than a shadow in the image.
