Start of the long schlep south!
I am on my long awaited trip back to Portugal via stays with various relatives en route and a break with Rachel and family in France. The car is loaded with a dinghy, oars, tent, tennis rackets etc. etc.
Last night Laura and I went to see Fran Lebowitz at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. I’m a huge fan of ‘Pretend it’s a City’ - and Fran did not disappoint. Hugely funny and articulate! I wish she could run the world! Unfortunately I couldn’t wait for book signing due to bus timetable but we’ve vowed to see her again when she visits Glasgow in April of next year.
Footnote: Kirsty Wark was amazing as the interviewer/host in the first part of the show. Kirsty and I started in BBC Glasgow at around the same time in the halcyon days of another of my heroes the late, great Alastair Hetherington - another genius wordsmith. It’s safe to say Kirsty has had a much more successful broadcasting career than me!.
