QEII Gate

Wandered into town to see Grand Vistas, early nineteenth-century panoramas of cities including Sydney and, as it was then, Calcutta; through the Royal Botanic Gardens to show K the big Eora fish hook sculpture; finally Circular Quay where a P&O liner was berthed. The QEII gate is at the Opera House entrance to the gardens, opposite the spot where QEII’s launch landed at Farm Cove in 1954.

For some reason it was hard to separate British monarchy from colonialism.

Thanks for hosting Pinkhairedlady.
