Happy Birthday Wonder Boy!

Today is Tim’s youngest’s birthday. He had lovingly prepared this birthday greeting and I was tickled to help photograph it. 

In the afternoon we scooted over to Locorotondo in search of a certain something and found it (!). 

In the evening we went for supper at Cibus. If you’re ever in this part of the world and want to eat really well, this is the place. Tim has been coming to the restaurant for years and we went the last time we were here. It’s a definite must.

I try to be a vegetarian but have definitely been more of a flexitarian in recent years. Tim has been incredibly good about not eating meat but at a restaurant like this, it’s time to indulge. We had an incredible selection of six vegetarian pieces for starters (see extras - I’ll never be a food photographer!). Tim had essentially a meat feast for mains and I had a truly delicious endive vegan dish. 

My experience of many restaurants is that they have something vegetarian on the menu, but few restaurants have something as truly tasty as this dish. It was so good I’m tempted to suggest they open a vegan restaurant. It was carefully prepared with much attention to taste. 

For dessert we both had gelato, different flavours, and the only thing I would have changed about the evening is that I would have chosen Tim’s gelato. He kindly let me have the last few bites - what a gentleman. 

As we were leaving the restaurant, Tim approached the owners and they remembered him, and remembered when they had asked him to meet their son in London several years back. It was a wonderful reunion.

And then, as if the night couldn’t get any better, next door was hosting a free concert with a great band and a fantastic singer. It’s one of the few times I wish this site supported video.
