First I explored on foot what I think will be the start of my regular cycle commute. Since the internet has caused all map printing to cease it is now impossible to use a piece of paper to find your way around. We'll understand just how short-sighted this is when something takes out our satellites.
Seriously though, we all rely on hardware orbiting the planet to navigate our way 4 miles across town. How pathetic is that!
I found a Bedford Council route-map. It's been installed back to front so that North is pointing South and nowhere does it mention whether the routes shown on it are bus routes or cycle routes, but my orienteering skills were put to use and I got a general feel for local footpaths and cycle routes, both of which are WAY superior to any found in either Medway or Henley.
A gin festival was advertised, but I visited the market instead.
This flat is so well-finished that it wants me to take good care of it, and I shall, but first I need to source the kind of products I trust. I'd like to find a Robert Dyas, but I think those are only found in posher towns. Wilko and B&M have only the superficial stuff with more fragrance than effect, and I'm not falling for that old flannel.
For the first time since leaving Greece I got to hang my laundry outside on a line.
