Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex'
At least that's what they call the double form across the pond. Also known as Bloodroot, from the red sap that bleeds from a cut root or rhizome.
Growing from a creeping rhizome, this woodlander bursts into flower before it's leaves unfurl. After a couple of warm days it has gone from tight buds to wide open flowers ..... if it stays warm the petals may drop just as quickly :(
Lot's of new flowers in the garden but had to catch this one today as it is a fleeting beauty.
