Sourdough crumpets
The only photo taken today. I had a fancy to try these when coming across a River Cottage episode a few nights ago.
All very easy to put together once you have the sourdough starter, luckily I had one prepared. (It did mean feeding the starter again to make a loaf later in the day).
They tasted fine, the base was crispy and surprisingly good, not burnt at all. I couldn’t find the Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall recipe on line, fortunately there are others. I forgot to take a photo of the cooked crumpet, it looked good with a lightly toasted holy finish, the butter melting nicely into the holes.
