Speckled

If I were to go back through my butterfly records for the year I think Speckled Wood would be the species I’ve seen on the most days. One factor in that is that even on dull and cool days they can still be seen, but still they seem to be having a good year unlike some other species. Meadow Brown and Ringlet were also about, but only when I disturbed them when walking through the meadow.

Work is getting quieter now in terms of day to day busyness which means there’s an opportunity to engage with longer term projects. I know from experience that that feeling won’t last long though and the scramble to get things ready for the next academic year will soon be upon us.
