The Lodberry
I suppose this is the most photographed building in Lerwick, if not all of Shetland. It's home to DI Jimmy Perez in the TV series Shetland. Lodberries are stone buildings constructed as stores which could receive goods, some illicit I believe, direct from the sea. There are still a few of the many original lodberries at the south end of Lerwick. There's no point in being a visitor if you don't take photographs of famous places so here is "The Lodberrie".
The journey here was fine. The ferry was pretty quiet. It was grey as we left Aberdeen but became sunnier as we sailed north. Between Orkney and Shetland I was aware of a noticeable swell and I was very grateful to be in a cabin. Poor G was in a reclining seat and had no sleep. I didn't have a lot more but enough to keep me going today. Flora did well.
It's a great day here. Not hot but warm enough. Breezy but not gale force. A bit of sun. Lots of leg stretching and reorientation is taking place. The holiday home is super, tucked away in one of the famous lanes.
I know I'm going to fall behind on blip and I thank you for your visits, comments, hearts and stars.
