Dr Google

What did we do before Dr Google?  Tomorrow I am being called back to the optician for a check because of blurry vision even though I have had cataracts removed. Naturally I have googled it and discovered its something called PCO and it’s treated with lasers.
 
I welcome the announcement that Alphabet, former Google, is about to invest billions in medical care. In future more information will be available to us to make better decisions regarding our health, thanks in no small measure to the growth of wearable health gadgets.
 
Healthcare is a huge industry, a behemoth, where too many vested interests, namely pharmaceutical companies, universities, private medicine, and health insurers, have no desire to see this lucrative field disrupted.
 
Step forward Dr Google.
