A bad omen?

On our way up to spend a few days in Port Stephens we drove via Davistown, which has been our preferred location for our move to a retirement village. This sign is just outside the village. When we drove past it at lunchtime it was standing tall. We drove past it again later on our way to visit the village. We could see no damage on it. It looks like it just fell over! We rather suspect/fear that our chance to move to the village may also have fallen over.
