Treecreeper

Today's the day ................. to hang on

This is one of (I think) three treecreeper fledglings, that was clinging on for dear life, to a tree in a nearby cemetry today.  It was just a gorgeous ball of feathery fluff, no more than a couple of inches from tip to tail - but unmistakably a baby treecreeper.

The two parents were fussing over the three of them, bringing back juicy morsels of insects and larvae for them.  And although the chicks hadn't quite worked out yet how to coordinate beak and claws, all they had to do to be sure of an offering, was to open up and reveal that bright yellow gape. 

They were indeed a hungry brood ..................!
