Letting Sleeping Bears Lie

Up early for the cubs 6am feed. Misty, now aka 'hoover' finished all her bottle in record time, whereas little Rain is alot slower. Some feeds she finishes, others she doesn't. Despite this she is still putting on a healthy amount of weight, as is Misty. Both cubs are now pushing the 5kg mark! Little Rain promptly went back to sleep after her am feed, whilst Misty happily chewed and played with her empty milk bottle. Bigger Cuter Nose

A big day at our Tam Dao Sanctuary. Today saw the launch of a collaborative effort between Animals Asia Foundation and the Vietnamese Traditional Medicine organisation to end bear bile farming and the use of bear bile, by creating a professional booklet on the herbal alternatives available for bear bile. This booklet will be distributed far and wide across Vietnam, in particular to Traditional Medicine Practitioners that are still prescribing bear bile to their patients. We had a lots of media attend the launch, along with some very special VIPs including the Ambassador of Switzerland, who was instrumental in helping save our centre from the eviction many months ago.

Following the launch there was a wonderful vegetarian Vietnamese buffet. I havn't eaten Vietnamese food that good since the Hoi An cooking school I attended at the beginning of the year! Too bad we can't contract them to cook in our canteen for us...

This afternoon, we will be just as busy health checking a lovely big bear called Olly. So wanted to get this sent in now, in case I'm too knackered to do it later!
