Warning Birds
There is a road in the West County, a shortcut through the vineyards, favored by trucks despite the fact that there are some very tight turns, a narrow bridge and signs warning them not to use it.There have been numerous accidents involving stuck or even overturned trucks. At their wits' end, county officials decided to try a totally different approach and commissioned local junk artist, Patrick Amiot, to make these birds who are sitting on a light fixture support which arches over the road. Apparently a bit of whimsey and humor succeeded where warning signs and threats had not....
Neither of us was sure in a brief discussion this morning that the new mattress was dramatically better, but we both slept quite well, and my back has been feeling pretty good today. If we get a similar results several nights in a row, I'll be ready to claim it worth the investment...
Spike liked it just fine....
We were scheduled to meet old Berkeley friends for lunch in San Anselmo, a place we deemed about halfway between us. Sadly she had to cancel this morning because of a recurring infection that had reared its ugly head in the night. With the day ahead of me, I decided to go to the only remaining quilt fabric store in town. I am up against the same problem I always have when beginning a new quilt. Faced with a large stock of fabrics I have trouble narrowing it down to just the right ones, and instead of limiting my choices, I have a tendency to keep getting more. It was interesting to see that I am not the only one who seems to be wandering around the shop somewhat aimlessly.
I commented to one woman that it could be a bit maddening...she replied that she was making a quilt for her niece who chose the yellow fabric with bees on it because she loves bees. The only problem was that this woman had never seen her wear yellow; she always wore pink. Perhaps the fact that I don't know who this one is intended for is my problem, but I suspect that it is just that I'm too impulsive. Or perhaps compulsive....
I'm pretty sure buying more fabric is not the answer, but I still bought some....
