June 30

One yellow rose in bloom at a client's garden today. We were there to prune a rhododendron for her, then she decided to come out and help us. H is in her 80's, a year ago she had throat cancer, this spring she was hobbling around from an ingrown toenail on one foot and had just had surgery on the other foot. I go there on an as needed basis which is easy to do for her as 2 of her neighbors are bi-weekly clients. She loves to talk about her garden while we are there.
A long day. Had to get 2 workers set up on one job first thing this morning, then off to meet the weeding crew and get 5 properties done. We had just finished when Joel called to say they were finishing up their job so I had to head over there to pick up a truck load of old plants and bits of sod from where they edged the beds. By the time we finished it was 4:30, time to get home to get something to eat, then meet with another customer to discuss the plan for her back yard. To get started on it, we will spend a couple of hours there every 2 weeks. It is another garden that needs a lot of work and I will still be working on it in September.
Summer finally arrived this week, the temperatures have been in the mid-20's during the day. Not too humid, it is bearable for working.
A busy day running around tomorrow, and I hope to be able to watch some of the Canada Day festivities. I also have to get everything ready for the whale watching trip on Saturday. I have to leave my place by 5:45 am.
