Cloud Making Factory
One of the coal fired power stations which I occasionally work at. Was hoping for decent weather and light - but no, overcast skies and flat light.
This particular station is a 1 gigawatt plant - not a very pretty plant - but very handy in that it means the lights come on for pretty much an entire county.
I still always get asked this - so yes it is steam coming out of the cooling towers, and that is why these old stations are so inefficient, all that energy being lost into the atmosphere . . .
Interestingly - that bank of black squares you see on the building in the bottom right of the picture, is a bank of solar panels, which powers the admin block there.
