Gillenia trifoliata

Known as Bowman’s Root. I have had this plant for around 30 years! It’s very hardy and flowers reliably every summer. I remember it’s name easily as it reminds me of Gilly! It waves about in the breeze and looks like a host of little butterflies.
It’s native to eastern N America and apparently the roots were ground and used by the native people as an emetic although I can’t find out who the Bowman was!
