Performance
It's said that when one of Verdi's operas was being premiered in Milan, he stood in the wings and was oblivious to all the cheers and applause of the audience. He was not at all concerned about who was pleased with his opera, with one exception, one of his inspirational predecessors, the great Rossini. Would he applaud, for his approval meant more than all the crowd combined? Our lives would be far less stressed and free of so many fears and doubts, if we could but learn to play for the only one whose opinion ultimately matters : the LORD who made us and bought us.
