More wildlife

It rained this morning and then a nice thunder storm this late afternoon. I went over to the farmhouse for a bit and was coming down the stairs and wondered what creature was sitting on the covered porch out of the rain. Why it was a cute, young ground hog. I talked through the window at it and it seemed very content. I scampered back to our place and grabbed my camera. I wondered if it would still be there. Nope. I went out and saw something flit under the wood pile. I spoke sweetly to it and the little thing popped it's head out so I could take its picture. Last April I took a picture of, I'm pretty sure, its mother.
She didn't stick around, thankfully, at least not on this side of the road. I think she had them across the road under all the junk, piles of found items that are being saved. Anyway, this little guy is good to stay on the far side of the farm house!
The extra is watching the cistern fill with the rain water. It's cool to look down at it from our living space. It's so satisfying. The water is pretty brown because when we're not getting rain water the solar pump is pumping water from the field pond. The blue board floating in it is in case some critter falls in.
