Trail
Nice to have a quiet day together to do whatever we wanted, so we started with a lateish brunch. Decided to go to City Cafe rather than one of the chi-chi hipster places and very nice it was too. I had French toast with bacon and A had pancakes etc, and I found I’d won another £25 on the premium bonds…third time this year! A hadn’t won unfortunately (and she has more bonds than me!).
Suitably revived we headed for a historical walk around town, as A was keen to visit some of the locations behind the exhibition we saw on Thursday. We wandered around the Lawnmarket where Burke was hanged and the closes and alleys that lie off it, the Grassmarket with the White Hart Inn (which I was surprised to see was established in 16th century) where Burke and Hare picked up several of their victims, and West Port where Burke lived. She enjoyed spotting and reading the plaques around the place on so many buildings, and imagining the city back then.
Home for a cup of tea then A cleared some stuff from her wardrobe and I did some ironing before we went out again to do the food shopping.
Home and sorted out some more stuff for P. One of A’s friends who trained as a nurse with her lives near him and has agreed to pop in each day, and Mt’s going to visit tomorrow and he and Twill also do next weekend. Hopefully by the time Cathy's back from her holiday the social care support will have kicked in but this arrangement will get us through til then I hope. Also sorting out hot lunches to be delivered which should kick in in the next few days.
We had bowls of spicy noodles for supper and an early night. I’ve had quite a sore lower back today…really looking forward to getting some yoga classes etc scheduled in soon!
