An early review of the accommodation...
1953 and the house is known as The Lucidor House Of Healing. The name only lasted for a few years before reverting to The Dell. The establishment at the time seems to have been a slightly questionable 'health' hotel.
We had thought that the local folklore that this place was once a nudist camp related to this period - it fitted with the debateable credentials and organisations supposedly involved.
However, this week, we discover - from a first hand account - that sunbathing in the all-together dated from some years earlier in the 1940's 'Dell Hotel' period. Whether that was just an occasional thing or an organised environment wasn't something the then 5-or-6-year-old didn't pick up on.
