Saturday: Paddington Basin

I’m not sure whether Paddington Basin was always a thing or whether it’s been given a new name since much of it was developed.  Anyway, this was my ‘hood for the last week.  This was the last/only photo I took before I submerged into the transportation system for the next 21 hours.

I was a little early at the airport but had decided to have breakfast there so factored in sufficient time.  It was busy, but not dreadful, taking about an hour and a half to get through security.  A good full English breakfast was consumed which stood me in good stead while the flight became more and more delayed.  Eventually, we took off three hours late.

The flight was uneventful (apart from me binge watching all 8 episodes of ‘Heartstopper’.  I’m not usually a binge watcher but it was delightful) and the turnaround in Toronto was smooth.  Because the flight was delayed I missed my connection so was booked on to the last flight to Ottawa……which was delayed.  I eventually landed at 0030 and was pleased to get back to K. and Barney around 0130, by which time I’d been up for about 23 hours.

It all came right in the end but there wasn’t a single flight on this journey which went the way it was supposed to.  I wonder if that’s the future of travel or whether it’s specific to Air Canada (which does have a pretty poor reputation).
