A Butterfly At Last…

Well, I went out for my walk armed with the 70-300mm zoom lens…anticipating photographing some rather attractive bovines that I saw yesterday in a paddock near here…..problem was that they were nowhere to be seen today. However, several butterflies obliged for blip - but of course the massive zoom is not ideal for ‘macro’ work, especially as it has a minimum focus distance of 1.2m! However, with a bit of creative cropping, I managed to produce this - of what I believe to be a meadow brown, but it didn’t want to pose with its wings open, so I can’t be certain.

The long zoom has thrown the background vegetation nicely out of focus…and I quite liked the ‘rim light’ along the wing edges.
