Life in Sunny Dubai

Recycling

A new week begins, and so does G's summer break - officially! We had a lot of recycling plus an oversized item to return to IKEA to carry to the car, so I called Nara to help us. It was good to see him and catch up on his news.

G got this shot through the front windscreen while I dealt with the recycling. Karama Park is looking pretty good, even in the summer. Years ago, when I was growing up, it was the site of a local school. Very unusually, they demolished the school and turned the area into a park. Slightly more recently, they added car parking bays.

We had our usual coffee in IKEA and then a shop at Carrefour. Today we met a friend, Jane, whom we've known for AGES, but don't get to see often. We've promised to meet again (spontaneously) to have a longer chat.

Back home, it was straight to lunch, then to catch up with the news  (there seem to be a lot of shootings) and finally, to do some work. Another day has flown. No Downton Abbey today. Patrick helped us to get the bridge episodes between Series. He presented a file format I had not heard of before (MKV). I found some software online to convert it, but it took so long that we ran out of evening. G saw YouTube clips of the Downton cast doing interviews etc. It's funny seeing them as ordinary people of our time!
