Play street

A blustery day. Much of the morning on the laptop. I had to go and post some letters (yes, still old style) so I took the dog for a walk.

A nearby street was blocked off. According to a lamppost notice on this afternoon and 3 others over the summer the street is blocked off. No cars allowed to drive. And all to turn the street into a play area. Children were cycling up and down. Playing basketball. A few mothers/neighbours were sitting at a table on the pavement have cups of tea (or something) and having a chat. It seemed to be a good idea working out in practice.

In the evening we met up for a curry with friends who are up from London. Edinburgh feels very busy again as the other day it had taken me 4 attempts to get a booking for tonight!
