Alfred's Tower

This is a folly built in 1772. As the name suggests it is connected to King Alfred, a statute of him is on the wall above the door. The interior was not open on my visit. From this angle it is triangular.  It is situated in the National Trust's Stourhead estate.  It is a grade 1 listed building that has been repaired.  A plane crashed into the top 30 feet  and at the same time Alfred's right arm (on the statue) was also repair.
