Making hay while the sun shines

It’s been a day of mowing round here. Firstly the gardeners turned up for the monthly trim and strim at the churchyard while we were recording this morning. The local churches have all adopted a ‘no mow summer’ policy and there won’t be a full mow for a while yet. Driven largely by finances, it’s great for wildlife but not all parishioners are happy about it. Personally I love it.

Then they were mowing the horse fields along the lane to make hay.

Which reminds me, we must trim the beech hedge soon as we are currently letting the side down.
