Cool greens

Whenever we go over to Ulva, a favourite day out from Mull we do the same walk and I always peel off and look at this reservoir which must have served the big house on the island.  It is very deep, peaty and clear and I long to swim in it!

We had a blissful day on Ulva, the sun shone and we had a lovely lunch looking out to Ben More in the sunshine.  Did the walk and the wood was mysterious and fairytale, the machair full of marsh orchids and I found a field rose which was deep pink and fragrant.  The marsh wound wort was just starting to flower where I’d seen a field full in a previous year.  No sign of meadowsweet yet so everyone is spared my meadowsweet cordial.

On the way home we stopped at the fabulous exotic garden at Lip Na Cloiche. It’s amazing it’s not better known as she gardens with a lot of exotics (as well as having a beautiful wilderness area) which do so well here on Mull.

V cooked dinner for us and I roasted apricots with sugar stolen from the new coffee stand by Ulva Ferry.  Or rather we all decided we needed sugar in our coffees…
