Long Train Journey

I remember a time when Deutsche Bahn trains ran on time, or at least mostly so. I can also remember a time when you got coffee and snacks on the train, and when more than one toilet per train worked. Nowadays it all seems to be the exception.

Writing down all the details of today’s journey would take way too long, and end in a rant.

But after a painful five hours on German trains, I changed to Swiss ones. Where toilets worked, coffee was offered, and trains were on time, in spite of the many building sites along the way. On the last leg of the journey, the fabulous Albula railway, I even had a seat behind the train driver and saw the many spiral tunnels from his perspective.

It was almost worth missing two connections and arriving 75 minutes later than planned.
