Going Up
The photographs of the building site at the school for the new science block are starting to get a little more exciting now as the building moves from the "hole in the ground" stage to the point where walls and pillars are going up. The real progress is now evident even to the uninitiated.
The floor slab was completed yesterday, and already they have built some of the shear walls - reinforced concrete walls designed to stop the building starting to lean over. Here you can see the builders this morning putting together the shuttering around the reinforcements for another shear wall, ready to pour the concrete later in the day.
School didn't start until 10.00 am today, after a very late night last night for pupils and staff following the Royal Albert Hall concert. Everyone was rather tired, but there was plenty to talk about after a splendid evening.
