Coolers

It's been really really hot lately. Can sense the heat off the walls and the floor till long after dusk. But this evening was different. It was quite breezy and pleasant. Probably an indication of an early monsoon; maybe I am being too optimistic. Monsoon brings along lots of promises. Promises of trekking in the Western ghats, long cycling trips through the rain, a cup of tea and fried snacks at a roadside shack fooling around with buddies, 5 people under a struggling under a single umbrella...I remember as a kid, I never used to miss school on rainy days. Part of the roads in the hilly town used to get under water, making it difficult for the teachers to reach school - which meant more fun for us :)

Today I got a link forwarded from my cycling group in office. It talks about an experimental town in Germany which has gone completely car-free. People either walk to cycle. What a brilliant concept and a lovely town. Life would be so beautiful and peaceful without all the pollution and engine roar.
