Those fortunate enough to have met Alice will be aware she was vertically challenged, AKA "Ducks' disease", AKA a Lowdown Bum.  :¬)

The back-door Step was a double nuisance in that, even without the slightly high step, the threshold itself added a generous 3" above kitchen floor level.
The cure? - My mate Bill halved the height of the step.

With advancing years (Damnear 80 of them) I've anticipated a time when even the Front may eventually present difficulties to the ancient pins.
