Whisky Galore

Not the actual hard stuff, you understand, but the unmistakeable aroma of same! 

We recently ordered a new water butt to replace our old one, which was collapsing after 25 years’ sterling service, and today our gardener installed it for us. He also took away the old one (what a kind man). This barrel may be new to us, but it is in fact possibly up to 20 years old, having been used in a distillery for storing Scotch whisky. As I said, when walking past it there is no mistaking its heritage. 

I wonder if the pink hollyhock I posted yesterday will be enjoying it, because it’s growing right opposite the water butt!
