I did a long shift at the allotment (transplanted some tiny, late, leeks - no idea if they'll survive) and sowed some fennel seeds. Picked the first punnet of blackcurrants - there are hunners! Red currants too. Broad beans still producing, first courgette visible, and ate my first pod of peas. Mmmm.

When D got home he was thrilled to find a letter from HMRC telling him he had tax rebate waiting for him. Not so thrilled when he tried to claim it online and the system didn't work ("This is a new service. Beta testing." Pah.) Looks like he'll have to wait six weeks for a cheque.....

On my way across Leith Links I noticed what could have been one of the rats that have recently been leaving the sinking ship in Westminster.....
