Taronga Zoo

I took myself off to Taronga zoo along with half of Sydney who were using up the last of their vouchers.  I have very mixed feelings about zoos.  Animals, like this silver back, should not be confined for human amusement.  Having said that, Taronga does a lot to educate the public about matters that will benefit animals in the wild but still, I do feel uneasy.  I remember well seeing Gorillas in the wild in Rwanda and how thrilling it was to be in their territory seeing them going about their daily activities and having a big Silverback brush past you.
