Resting Tern

Not a common sight. Usually these wee birds are busy fishing. We spent our coffee time watching various sea birds fishing in the Andy Bay Inlet. There were a plethora of shags along with these terns and several Royal Spoonbill, Pied Oystercatcher, Ducks, seagulls - both red billed and black back, and Paradise Ducks all fishing for there supper. A rookery built a couple of years ago has provided a safe haven for our local water birds and we are beginning to see a lot more of the once rarer birds. I really need a DSLR with tele lens to scratch the itch to take better bird photos but do enjoy the challenge of capturing a half way OK image with my wee canon.
