If You Build It…

They will come • An exciting day in the Butterfly Bed! Not one, but two female Monarchs flitted from one milkweed flower to another depositing eggs. This went on for at least a half an hour. They were so determined and efficient in doing their duty to further their species. We can’t wait for the cats to show up and will have plenty of milkweed for them to feast on :) • No owl sightings today • Sadly, a mama squirrel feeding in our yard was hit by a passing car when she was returning home. Not wanting to leave her in the road I wrapped her in one of the cat’s throws and carried her to a shady spot under some bamboo trees. She was bleeding from her head and gasping for air. It was awful to witness. Later when I went to check on her she was gone. Blood droplets told me she went further into the woods. I’m sure she won’t survive, and all I can think about are her babies. Hopefully they’re old enough to fend for themselves • Extreme highs and lows today • We’ll be harvesting zucchini soon :) • Enjoy your Saturday!
