Picking black currants
Here is Julie, picking black currants in Margret's fruit garden. The gooseberries have been wonderful and now the black currant bushes are straining under the weight of the fruit.
We picked a lot but there was little sign that we had been there!
Julie came for lunch bringing flowers and nibbles. I (hopefully) have fixed her iPad problems. We'll see.
I had a sleep this afternoon then went to hear a baroque group called Noxwode. Miriam, their cellist, grew up in the village. I reminded her tonight of how she brought her cello to our garden when we had an orchestra garden party. She was able to join in on open strings. She says she had had the cello for only 2 weeks then.
The group all play on early instruments. I watched the theorbo player and thought he will soon have neck and back problems. What a difficult instrument to play without being contorted.
It's been a hot day and the evening breeze is delightful.
Guess who I met at the concert? It was hazelh's mother (shown) and sister (not sure if this is the little sister or the not so little sister!).
