Stake in the ground
Safe for a moment, she took time to take it all in. The stretch of the horizon to her west took her home, to the east to her probable death. She had thought long and hard of whether to follow him, again, but what could she do? She was duty bound. There was no real choice.
Her army below her, her destiny before her, what would come of her, this day, this very day?
The sun rose proud and true over the Eastern moors and it's rising warmth touched her neck as she stretched it this way and that in its early morning glow. That felt good, made her know she was alive, that there was still hope.
A wolf whistle below and the game would soon be afoot. Rozenn fell to her knees and waited, whether for a sign or a final rest she was not sure. As time stood still around her she realised this place was a holy one as this would be where her mind would fall back to, her safe place, as the heat and dirt of the day took over. Rozenn took her knife and drew a line in the earth below. Here she resolved to stand firm, to be true. She knew what was right and she would fight for this with her life. Here she would place her stake in the ground.
