Holding tight

While weeding around the rose bushes I discovered this fat green caterpillar enjoying a buffet lunch of tender new rose leaf. I tried to pick it off but it was clinging so tight that I couldn’t budge it without doing it some injury. So I decided the best course of action was to sacrifice a small rose shoot and transfer this along with caterpillar to an area of the garden where it could chomp away to its heart’s delight.
The sun actually broke through the clouds from time to time today and it was enjoyable to be outside without a jacket.
