Reunited

17 years and 9 days ago, I retired from the Metro Transit Police.
This morning, Captain Beau Perizzo, MetroTransit Police,  came to my house with his wife to present me with my badge, the same one that I had to return to the department on the day that I retired. Captain Beau has made it his personal mission to return the badges to the police retirees who wore them. 
After wearing and honoring this badge for 25 years, it was incredible to hold it in my hands again. It is mounted in a lucite display case, but I can still see the bit of bent tip that I added to give it my personal touch. 
Such a flood of emotions and so many memories.
