Genting

An odd kind of day.  As usual the plan was subject to much change.  #1 son is still not well so decided to drop out of the weekend away. WH's idea of leaving early was never going to come to much so we went to Plaza Damas for lunch and met up with #2 son.  With a detour back to the condo to pick up forgotten swimming gear we were finally on our way at 2 p.m.

However, it's a holiday weekend (Eid el Adha tomorrow) so we got stuck in a huge traffic jam from Gombak and it took 90 minutes to do about 50km.  There were a lot of overheating cars at the roadside being 33 deg outside.

We were headed for the Genting Highlands and hedonistic leisure/shopping resort built around the original casino. Once in our apartments we caught up with 2 of the aunts and WH's Mum and then went to the pool.  It was great to be swimming though it was pretty chilly when we got out at almost 6, in a wind.

Then dinner with everyone but at different tables.  4 of the 10 aunts, 2 uncles, a cousin from Sweden who does not speak Chinese, us and WH's Mum.  After back to one of the rooms to drink Japanese rice beer (in my case flavoured with orange), Guinness and Asahi.

We didn't stay up too late and it so refreshing to be in a place that isn't hot and humid, more Mediterranean balmy!

Our view was up to the top of the hill where the new theme park is.  Looked pretty spectacular by night.
