Not the first cuckoo...

but just as significant to me... the first narcissus has finally opened in my front garden. The extra sunshine and little bit of warmth over the past week had promoted a sudden burst of activity and each day I watched as the tightly closed buds slowly bent their heads. Yesterday, this bud gave just the slightest glimpse of the wonder that lay inside and then this morning, I opened the curtains and there it was... the first narcissus of spring - and the promise of lots more to come soon!
